Like pretty much every other sector, digital marketing has been upended by the arrival of ChatGPT and generative AI. You likely came across this post because you’re looking for ways to incorporate AI into your marketing strategy without sacrificing quality. We’ll help you do just that. These prompts delivered shockingly good emails when tested across multiple brands and chats. Not like “good for AI.” Like, good good.
Read on for the email marketing prompts that will save you time and increase KPIs.
ChatGPT has the potential to increase efficiency and effectiveness for email marketing teams…if you use it strategically. To get the most out of generative AI, you need prompt engineering, the practice of carefully crafting the instructions you give to ChatGPT—or other large language models (LLMs)—to generate the desired output. Once you hone your prompts to generate reliably consistent (and high-quality) email content, you add it to your marketing automation toolbelt.
We played around with these prompts a lot until we locked in the prompts that led not just to usable copy… but actually good emails. In the process, we found some common denominators. These tips will help you recreate your own ChatGPT prompt magic. Whether you’re writing your own email marketing ChatGPT prompts or adjusting ours, here are some things to keep in mind that will help you get a much higher level of quality out of the bot.
Outline the deliverables you want ChatGPT to write: If you want an email subject line, email body text, CTA button, or all three, clearly state that in the ChatGPT prompt. This is a good time to consult the email templates you’re using and make a list of the different fields where you’ll need copy.
Include customer personas: If you have an ideal customer persona for a specific email marketing campaign, you include it in the prompt. Just include, “Write the email targeted to [IDEAL CUSTOMER PERSONA DETAILS].”
Include notes on tone and punctuation: ChatGPT loves exclamation points, and they typically don’t perform well in marketing messaging. You’ll notice that a lot of our prompts explicitly tell ChatGPT not to use exclamation marks. If you have any notes on punctuation or brand tone, include them in your email marketing prompt.
Tell the bot what marketing and/or sales framework you want it to use: You can tell ChatGPT to employ a problem-solution approach, problem-agitate-solution, or benefits-driven content for each email.
Here they are: the 10 best ChatGPT prompts for email marketing in 2025. These prompts will help supercharge all your marketing efforts—from boosting customer engagement and social media marketing cross-promotion to crafting individualized, targeted emails.
