As someone who works in the email industry, I subscribe to many email lists. That, combined with the usual email load that a twenty-something who shops online like a maniac receives, means the amount of unread mail I have in my inbox every morning is staggering. So, it isn’t every day that an email makes me look twice. But the inspiration for today’s Unread Mail episode–featuring Pandora–did just that!
I credit this email’s success to two main factors: clean design and personalized content. When I say clean design, I mean that the email doesn’t have unnecessary content or images—it has just what it needs and nothing more! And they personalize the content by naming the exact number of songs that I “thumbs-upped.” The content speaks to me on a one to one level since it’s a result of the actions that I’ve taken in their app.
