SendGrid is proud to announce that we’re now providing access to our powerful Event Webhook to all of our customers who have a Bronze-level account or higher!

We want to help everyone send great email, and one of the best ways to do that is to learn what happens to messages AFTER you hit send. By seeing if the message is delivered, bounced, opened, or clicked on, you can make changes and improve your email campaign.

The Event Webhook addition to Bronze accounts allows you to monitor your email activity in real time. The Event Webhook provides notification of events that occur to email, including:

  • Processed Events
  • Dropped Events
  • Deferred Events
  • Delivered Events
  • Bounced Events
  • Clicked Events
  • Opened Events
  • Unsubscribes
  • Emails Marked as Spam

If you’re a Bronze customer or higher, you can use the Event Webhook and decide which events you want to be notified of so that SendGrid can make an HTTP post of the activity to an endpoint. Whenever a notified event happens, SendGrid will automatically post the information in JSON to this endpoint.

Sound Difficult? It’s NOT!

Enter, the EventKit! We wanted to make using the Event Webhook as easy as possible for all our users, so we created an easy way to create a private endpoint and database to accept the Event Webhook data.

For technical and non-technical customers alike, the EventKit provides an easy and user-friendly app. All you have to do is download a PHP script and upload it to your hosting server and SendGrid takes care of the rest!

What do the Event Webhook and EventKit do?

The Event Webhook helps customers get more information about the email they send by providing data about email events. The EventKit makes it super easy to access and search through that data.

Once set up, you’ll be able to:

  • See all messages associated with a single SMTP-ID.
  • Download the results of your searches as CSV files for external use.
  • Perform detailed searches of data specifying date ranges and other fields.
  • Set up auto-delete so that older messages are automatically removed.
  • Search for email addresses, categories, event types, unique arguments, and more.
