ENERGY STAR Update

Portfolio Manager® DataTrends now available for 16 property types

EPA has released DataTrends for 16 property types, including a first-ever look at 12 new property types. The DataTrends series is intended to give you a sneak peek inside ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, EPA’s database of hundreds of thousands of commercial buildings that are benchmarking and tracking energy use. Check out the profile of each of these industries and where your buildings stand.

These 2-page fact sheets summarize the energy, operational, and property characteristics for most property types that can receive a 1-100 ENERGY STAR score. Previously, they were only available for office buildings, retail stores, K-12 schools, and hotels.

Among the findings are that distribution centers and non-refrigerated warehouses continue to be important sectors to target for energy efficiency. They have the widest range of energy use among the best and worst performers, with the worst using 16-21 times the energy use as top performers.
