eCommerce Hack Day Brings New Challenge To Developers

When you go online to shop at a store, you often don’t think about the technology making it all happen.  I mean, how do you build the next eBay?  There are startups working to make your online shopping experience easier, faster more secure.  This weekend welcomed the first eCommerce Hack Day organized by Dwolla and Etsy in New York City and brought together over 100 developers competing for more than $10,000 in cash and prizes. Developers had over 20 API’s to choose from and while we love to see cool hacks using Sendgrid for email notifications and parsing, teams created some really cool apps remixed with: Braintree, Paypal’s Xcommerce, Stripe and WePay for transactions Dwolla for payments between individuals Etsy, Gumroad and StoreEnvy for marketplaces Zappos
