As Adria forecasted in a post last week, the API Hackday crew brought our hackety fun to the UK for the first time…and the London developer community did not disappoint! A large group of excited hackers showed up bright and early on Saturday morning, ready for a full day of mashing APIs. It was an incredibly talented group of DOers, and the fruits of their labors were quite impressive. Are you a developer in the UK looking to flex your coding muscles and win some cool prizes? API Hackday is coming to London, England August 4th after another successful run in Portland, Oregon around OSCON. It’s been just over a month since I became a Developer Evangelist at SendGrid, and I’ve now attended 8 events in 5 different cities! At each event I have met a variety of interesting people, including awesome SendGrid advocates, and I’ve learned a great deal about a number of improvements SendGrid can implement in maintaining its top spot in the world of email. The big event of the week is SendGrid’s fourth API Hackday on Saturday, July 30, which we are hosting with the usual suspects — Apigee, Mashery, SimpleGeo, and Twilio — and a number of awesome Portland-based companies like Urban Airship and PHPFog. As an added bonus, we welcome LinkedIn to the API Hackday lineup!

While I’ll be enjoying many of the festivities involved in this enormous gathering of technophiles, I’m most excited about SendGrid’s third API Hackday, which we are hosting on Thursday, along with Aviary and SimpleGeo.
