Monitive is an uptime monitoring service that periodically checks your sites from all around the world and instantly notifies you when they go down via SMS text, email, or Twitter DM. It monitors performance by measuring server connect, transmit, and response times and executes automatic diagnosis, sends weekly reports, displays charts, and more. With Monitive, you can rest assured that your site is being monitored and is up and healthy.

The Challenge

Finding a reliable email deliverability service that ensures that customers receive time sensitive notifications about their sites.

Monitive is a monitoring service that alerts customers when there is a problem or interruption with their site. Most alerts are sent via email, with Monitive sending approximately 60,000 emails per month. It’s imperative that these email notifications arrive on time, as expected, and without fail. This is critical to Monitive’s success, particularly since they offer customers a free trial to showcase their value proposition.

With their previous provider, Monitive’s emails were frequently delayed and often ended up in the spam folder. Daily maintenance made the system unavailable for periods of time throughout the day, which prevented time sensitive emails from reaching their customers. Also, they did not have access to the analytics they needed to track delivery and response rates, or determine if and when to send communications via a different method if they suffered email delays or failures.

When searching for a new solution, Monitive’s number one requirement was that the service be reliable. Secondly, they needed their own monitoring service that would ensure high email deliverability rates and provide them with access to the data they needed to improve communications with their customers. They selected SendGrid to help them, but since they were so disappointed with their previous provider, they also set up a backup system to deploy email via GoogleApps just in case.

Integrating with SendGrid took only a few hours and within minutes of their first deployment, they had access to delivery and response metrics that provided key insights into the health of their email campaign.

The SendGrid support team has helped them improve their email reputation by both helping to warm up their IPs and by working with the ISPs to increase their sending quota to service customers while they built their reputation.

They also have the reliability they required for their email delivery. And best of all, they have never had to use their Google Apps backup to send email.
